How things are going for us

Hi my lovely friends!

I know we talk and talk and talk about getting back into blogging but things just keep coming up.

We have news.

A couple weeks ago now I think Alex and I noticed Tygana running into walls we immediately got him an appt.

He has a partially detached retina most likely caused by high blood pressure.
He had been losing weight lately as well and they suspected hyperthyroidism.

We ran a blood panel on him and started him on blood pressure meds.

Tygana does not have hyperthyroidism but instead he has CRF (chronic renal failure) he is stage 3 if you are familiar with the stages.

So he is on a prescription diet (Hill's K/D) now which Pepper apparently loves, I just can't seem to keep him away from it!

We had a re-exam today and his blood pressure has gone down 100points, but it is still high we're hoping it goes down more.
Some of his sight has returned it's not perfect (well it hasnt been perfect in ages but better than no sight)
They also drew blood and going to run tests on his kidneys again and we are also going to have a urinalysis.

In other news Pepper is in fantastic health!

So if it wouldn't be too much to ask we are asking for your purrayers and thoughts that Tygana be as stable as possible for as long as possible. Because CRF cats can live happy lives too! We just don't want his numbers jumping!

Thanks everyone and we will try to keep you posted!

Also if any of you bloggers have CRF or have experience with a rainbow bridge kitty who had CRF we would love to hear from you!!

Purrs and purrayers for Tygana....The mom doesn't have experience with CRF yet, but no doubt will, unfortunately.

*Kitty kisses*

P.S. Have you checked out Tanya's CRF site? Very comprehensive, excellent resource.

We've had a couple of CRF kitties and a CRF woofie. Mom says there is a good yahoo group for CRF and a wonderful aol chat, but you have to be on aol to get into it. There are good resources for fluids and needles too if you get to the point that you need to do that.

Big purrs for you and Tygana! We had a CRF kitty who did very well with fluid therapy and a special diet. His kidney function was almost nothing when he was diagnosed, but he hung around another happy year, causing a ruckus up til the end, which was peaceful.

Kea the Mom has been pouring over that site! It's really wonderful, she even got copies of all tyganas test results so that while shes reading she would be able to connect it to whats going on with him!

Furkidsmom do you have a link to this yahoo group?

Thanks so much everyone!

We are purring for Tygana and hope he is feeling better soon. We know that the retina can reattach sometimes once you get the blood pressure under control. And do check out Tanya's CRF site. There is lots of good info there.

Oh dear - good thing you caught Tyg's condition. We have a 20 year old CRF cat - we have been treating her with natural supplements since she was diagnosed 5 years ago and she is doing fine. Our email is calcatsndogs@gmail.com if you would like to talk more.

Purring and praying for precious Tygana to get better asap...I've got plenty of experience with CRF kitties; gave my Nikki sub q fluids daily for almost 2 years until she died and my Mom's cat Asia lived over 5 years with daily sub q fluids after her CRF diagnosis (we even gave my Mom's dog fluids for over a year=they all tolerated it extremely well)...It is very easy and quick and will add longevity and quality of life=I would encourage everyone with CRF babies to do it...Best of luck...Sending you big hugs and kisses to your lovely babies...J (Calle, Halle, Sukki)

Sending rumbly purrs and love to Tygana. We hope the medicines and special food can stabilise his condition. We know that many kitties live a long, long time with CRF. Our Angel had high blood pressure but it was due to Hyper T, she had to take a teensy, tiny pill called Istin every day to keep the blood pressure controlled, it worked well.

We're also sending Tygana's Daddy Birthday Wishes! Hope he has a very good day!
