Thank you so much for the purrs and grrs!

Hi kitties we love the support the CB offers! Thought we would give you an update.
Tygana got another blood panel ran on friday, I got a call from the vet yesterday afternoon.

His BUN levels went down but his creatinine went up, from 2.9 to 4.3 I believe.

The vet has suggested beginning him on calcitrol and sub-q fluids. So monday we are heading over there to pick up his supplies for the sub q's and learn to administer them and they are going to put in the order for calcitrol.

I know many kitties do wonderfully on sub-q's and they make a world of difference but I also know that not all cats are the same, so we are on edge here until we can see how he is going to do on them. Of course we pray for the best!

Until then we are just going to constantly refresh his water and try and tempt him to drink.
Can't wait for his Drinkwell 360 stainless to get in!

hey guys- Sub q fluids are GREAT! especially with kidney things! They really do make them feel wonderful. Does he like the K/D? some cats dont- but there are other good brands, so keep your chin up. We've seen cats do great with kidney disease, and the fluids are the very best.

We forgot to ask, does Tygana eat wet fudz? That helps a lot to add fluid into the diet. Mommy practically made gooshy food soup for Chuckles and he slurped it down.

Our mom had a cat that came before us that had to have sub-qs. He did great with them. And we hope Tygana does well with them too.

Hi just wanted to respond to some of the questions in the comments.

Hansel: Yes Tygana likes the K/D he's always really good about food changes he's not really a picky eater.

Katnip Lounge: Yes Tygana does eat wet food (k/d canned now he was previously on fancy feast) lately I have been watering down his food more just to try to get more fluids into him rather then just having him drink the water himself. He lately he has been eating very tiny amounts, roughly half a teaspoon and sometimes life about 4 to 5 times a day. I'm always offering him food and leave him some dry k/d to free feed but hes just not wanting to eat sometimes.

I think it has to do with his lack of fluids he's just not feeling well and up to the task so I'm hoping that once we start the sub q's his appetite will get better. If not I'm going to speak to my vet about getting sometime either an appetite stimulant or maybe just a can of a/d to get him started.

WE are purring and praying for Tygana (and you!). We've had a number of cats at the shelter on sub-q, and they did wonderfully. We certainly hope that is the case for Tygana...
